Thailand Customs New Regulations Strictly Inspect TISI Certification

TISI strictly inspects goods without TIS marks

Between March 7 and 12, 2025, the Thailand Institute of Industrial Standards (TISI) carried out a series of surprise checks in order to strictly control products sold without TIS (Thai Industrial Standards) marks. Specifically, these checks took place in several areas across Bangkok and Nakhon Si Thammarat. During the operation, officials seized many unapproved items, including helmets, drinking water pipes, and non-stick pans. As a result, the total value of the seized goods reached 2,915,324 Thai baht.

The total value of goods seized at three different locations amounted to 2,915,324 Thai baht. All non-compliant products were detained on the spot, and TISI will take further legal measures against the businesses involved. According to the Thai Industrial Standards Act, selling goods without TIS certification may face severe penalties, including heavy fines and even criminal liability.

TISI once again reminds businesses of the importance of compliance. All regulated products must comply with Thai industrial standards. They must also bear the TIS mark. Without these, businesses will face legal consequences. At the same time, consumers should check the TIS certification mark. This is important when purchasing safety- and health-related products such as helmets, drinking water pipes, and non-stick pans. This check ensures safe use.

Thailand TISI certification cannot be ignored

Don’t take it lightly! Thailand Customs’ new regulations strictly inspect TISI certification, and the penalties for violations are severe!

Do you think small-batch purchases can escape regulation? Wrong! The latest policies of the Thailand Customs clearly state: all products with electricity, magnetism, or metal components, regardless of quantity, must comply with TISI certification requirements! This means popular products such as children’s toys, phone cases, and power banks will become key inspection targets—and even purchasing agents and drop-shipping businesses are not exempt from regulation.

Customs Crackdown: Stores Raided and Non-Compliant Listings Removed

The new regulations apply not only to importers and wholesalers but also to stores on e-commerce platforms! Customs authorities have begun joint inspections with e-commerce platforms to strictly audit products without TISI certification. Once violations are detected:
✅ Listings will be removed immediately, and stores will face penalty points – this could at minimum affect sales or at worst lead to store closure!
✅ Goods will be seized, and even if supplementary certification is applied, retrieval is not guaranteed – miss the deadline for 补办 (re-certification), and the goods will be disposed of as waste!

How to Avoid Pitfalls? A Must-Read for Businesses!

1.Verify certification requirements beforehand: Check whether your products fall under TISI’s mandatory certification scope before import, and prepare relevant documents in advance.
2.Ensure supply chain compliance: Source products that meet Thai industrial standards to avoid delays or destruction of goods due to certification issues.
3. Engage with customs and certification bodies early: Apply for TISI certification in advance to prevent clearance delays caused by last-minute re-certification.
4.Conduct timely self-audits for e-commerce stores: Remove any products without TISI certification from your listings to avoid penalties by customs or platform enforcement.

Therefore, don’t take chances! Compliance requirements in the Thai market are becoming increasingly strict. In fact, any attempt to bypass TISI certification may cost your business dearly. Ultimately, only by operating in compliance can you establish a long-term foothold in Thailand’s e-commerce market!
